Stephen Pearce, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, is known for his compassionate care in treating a variety of bone, muscle, and joint issues for men and women in and around Austin, Texas. Dr. Pearce draws from decades of experience in providing expertise in shoulder, elbow, and hand reconstruction, as well as sports medicine and joint replacement surgery.
Dr. Pearce received his bachelor’s degree in biology from The University of Texas, graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Pearce’s solid foundation of medical education and training began with his medical doctorate at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. At graduation from Southwestern Medical School, Dr. Pearce was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, an honorary medical society for the top 10% of graduates. He stayed in Dallas for his orthopedic residency at Parkland and Affiliated Hospitals. On part one of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery exam (a certifying exam), Dr. Pearce scored in the top 1% nationwide.
In New York City, Dr. Pearce completed his fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, and then completed an additional fellowship at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in hand surgery.
Dr. Pearce is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and renowned as a true leader in the musculoskeletal field. He’s repeatedly recognized by Austin Monthly magazine as one of Austin’s Best Doctors. Other accolades include making the national listings in The Best Doctors Inc. and getting named a Texas Monthly Super Doctor for several years.
